why are we constipated for ideas on social media?

sorry for such a bold title but yes this is what i think. we have brand pages with 1 mn or 2 mn fans on facebook but all we post is – tell us your favorite IPL team! – what the hell!! what happened to picture blogging? what happened to guerrilla videos? making fun of the competition? brand games only for fb fans? coupons for fb fans? when will we (Indians) become the ones to introduce something new on social media than follow others?

some brands have cracked it right – porsche, posting exciting videos and interacting with fans by giving them updates on new launches. some brands have just lost it – pepsi, from fun and irreverent posts to tell us what this person did in history kind of posts.

when will Indian brands understand that its not about getting a million fans on facebook but doing something that grabs their attention and keeps them engaged?
