Everybody needs help sometimes. And right now, No Nasties could use your help. Read on.
No Nasties is India’s first 100% certified Organic, Fair Trade t-shirt company.
Eh? What does that even mean?
It simply means we make t-shirts that are made ethically & in an environmentally friendly manner. From farm to factory, seed to stitching, we looked at every step of the t-shirt making process and got rid of all the nasties!
Ok, but why? What’s the problem we’re trying to solve here?
The problem, the BIG problem, is Farmer Suicides.
Specifically, over 250,000 farmer suicides over the past 15 years!
It’s the largest wave of suicides in human history and it’s happening right here in India!
It’s shocking, shameful, sickening!
So we decided to do something about it.
We decided to kickstart a movement!
A movement for organic & fair trade clothing!
Organic is eco-friendly + it reduces farming costs.
Fair trade is ethical + it raises farmer profits.
Together, they help increase farmer incomes, reduce farmer debt and prevent farmer suicides. They create happier communities & a healthier planet for all of us.
No Nasties is 100% organic, 100% fair trade, 100% awesome.
Our t-shirts make you look good, feel good AND do good! (Don’t take our word for it – ask Alok ‘Rodinhood’! He’s a big fan of our t-shirts too!)
We work with independent designers, musicians and artists to create original prints for our tees. A share of our revenues go back to these folks and we also support various social causes with our profits. (We make t-shirts for corporates & NGOs too!)
We’ve been selected by UnLtd India for 2 years in a row for their social enterprise support program. Our customers LOVE our products and can’t get enough! We’ve got fantastic press coverage about our work too.
But we need a LOT more people to support us and grow this movement. We need YOU. And your friends & families too!
So what do we need help with? We are taking part in the national Spark the Rise contest that helps start-ups looking to make positive change in India. Take a look at the video we’ve put together for this (it’s fun!)
You can also see our project details here explaining what we do and why we need help.
Winning this contest will get us a bit of grant money, a lot of publicity and also mentorship from industry experts. We’ll be able to expand our product line (kids & baby tees!), hire key staff members (for Communications & Corporate Sales), and spend more on marketing to raise more awareness! It’ll go a long way for our small team!
How can you help? We need VOTES to win. Voting is free & easy – just takes a missed call to 02261850674. That’s it! 10 seconds and your good deed for the day is done!
Contest ends on Jan 21st, so please vote today from your mobile phone.
For bonus karma points, you could spread the word too! Get your friends to vote, get your colleagues to vote, get everyone in your household to vote too! Share our video on Facebook & Twitter.
So will you help? Will you actually pick up the phone and dial that number?
Thanks everyone – each vote helps us get there, so really appreciate your help!
We’re here to answer any questions – you can call me directly at 9833550160 too! (I’m Apurva).
We are a small & young company hoping to make a large & long term impact! You can get a lot more info on our website, our blog and our Facebook page.

Done. All the best 🙂

Voted already. Good initiative and great video.
Just my two cents here: If you have some advertising budget say 10-15k then couple the video and concept with Facebook advertising and you will see great results in terms of numbers. IMHO the concept will receive instant recognition on a social platform withing the age group 24 to 28 with very less Cost per Click. In case you require some personalized advice (free of charge for a social cause/startup) feel free to connect with me on lakshdeep@greenapplesolutions.com. At Green Apple Solutions we help brands with their digital marketing strategies.

Thanks Lakshdeep! Will definitely reach out – we could use some help.
We’ve actually already promoted this heavily on Facebook – got over 50K views. The challenge is to go from online to offline (picking up that phone!) – the conversions are not that great. Any ideas on that front?

Just did n spread the word too ! Wish u luck !

thanks, Sandeep!

amazing video.. gud work guys, carry on.. n yes i called on that number 🙂

Did you use promoted posts? Also having seen the video, I’m sure you must have used the right call-to-actions. 50k views is not really a big number? That would have gotten you 100/200 odd clicks in my experience.
Having the right caption can work wonders. Try using something like “Help this startup in 5 sec”, “Help Indian Farmers”, “Pick a social Cause” etc. Make sure your pitch is simple. Give a missed call to help Indian Farmers. Spread the word! Do your bit.
I’m sure you can come up with more.

Liked it! Will spread the words 🙂

Would love to spread the word.

Hey Apurva,
Voted on zipdial and asked Megha to do the same. We need to meet on your digital plan. Lets meet up and discuss.
Regarding your immediate challenge, will call you in a while.
Best!

Great concept Apurva… I have voted ! I read about online to offline thing. You could use click to call feature which is provided by lots of Cloud telephony companies these days. Just use their feature, ask people to click on the button. An automated call will be made and it will connect the user and the voting line. I guess, this might help in converting views to votes 🙂

Hey everyone – just wanted to thank all of you for your support on this contest!
We won the monthly award for Jan and will be awarded a grant of Rs.4 lakhs for it – that’ll go a long way for a small start-up like ours – so thank you. But beyond the monetary award, we are happier about the response we got from the community! Tremendous support in spreading the word and in voting too. We definitely felt the love 🙂
We didn’t make it to the grand finale, and that’s ok too. There are some amazing social businesses out there who are as deserving of your support too and we wish them all the best in the finale!
Once again – thank you, thank you, thank you! You’ll be hearing a lot more from us about our future growth plans and about our journey too.
With deepest gratitude,
Apurva
